Abby and Paige have been best friends (literally) since birth.  When Paige was born in Germany 7.5 years ago, Abby was there, already loving her cousin incredible amounts.  She was only 17  months old when Paige arrived and she immediately nicknamed her “Peeps.”  Peeps and Abby, Abby and Peeps.  I don’t think my sister or I had any idea about just how strong their bond really would be, but I know we both hoped they would be close like we are.  When they are together, nothing else matters.    They take off and do their thing, and it’s beautiful.

The Long’s came this past weekend for a visit, even though Paige hadn’t been feeling well.  She wanted to see Abby so badly that she faked feeling fine so they could still come.  The girls hugged and screamed each others names when they saw each other, and then ran right up to Abby’s room to play and were barely seen again for the rest of the night.  It started to become obvious that Paige really wasn’t as fine as she pretended she was so they left early on Sunday, but not before Paige admitted that she had been really feeling terrible all along but didn’t want anyone to know.  She ‘had to see Abby’.

Paige was admitted to the hospital Sunday evening with pneumonia and wasn’t discharged until Wednesday.  She was seriously sick, and it very seriously broke my daughter’s  heart.  They texted ‘I love you’s’ back and forth on our phones and Nicole kept us updated with pictures and texts.  It was only after Paige was discharged that we felt like we could laugh about the fact that Paige had faked feeling okay.  Who can truly ‘fake’ not having pneumonia?  Apparently Paige can!

Their relationship is inspiring.  They don’t judge each other or criticize.  They love without hesitation and value each and every minute they get to spend together.  They talk about everything, and nothing all at the same time. And, when Abby is sad or feeling lonely, more often then not, it’s Paige she cries out for– not me.  Peeps and Abby.  Abby and Peeps.

I think I am too old to be reading this type or blog.
This time I didn’t tear up, I literally cried. So much so, that I couldn’t read it to Gamma.
I think it’s because I know the background of these two and the depth of their feelings for one another.
It’s beautiful.
Thank you for putting it down on paper (digitally speaking)

This is wonderful. Thank goodness Paige is better, and oh, my, what a wonderful relationship these girls have. They look like sisters in this pic. I hope that Lila and her cousin Sammy have a similar relationship as they grow. Their age difference is almost exactly the same! Wonderful post!

Polly, Georgia and Arch the Awesome

This is a good story about cousins. Arch the Awesome says it is a total upset about Peeps. Polly is making so many mistakes Poppy could do better.
