We all stopped caring if our socks matched a long time ago. It’s ridiculous to put a pair of matching socks into the laundry and even think there’s a remote possibility they’ll both show up in the dryer. All of the kid’s socks are piled on top of the dryer- every now and then I’ll go in and see if I can marry a few pairs, but for the most part the socks just stay there. The kids go in and pluck two up at a time, mostly at random. Nobody thinks twice about it anymore. However, if you do see my kids wearing matching socks, they’re probably really dirty. They hoard the matching pairs and won’t put them in the laundry because they know they won’t see them together again for a long, long time.
