I came home from a shoot and she asked me if I had taken my picture of the day yet. I had not. So, I replaced my CF card and started shooting her while she sat in my office on the orange chair that we picked up off the side of the road last summer. It felt like cheating to me.
So I put my camera down.
One hundred and seventy two days ago I started this project and made a commitment to take a picture every single day for a year. It sounds so easy- especially when taking pictures is what you do for a living. In reality, it’s really freaking hard- especially when taking pictures is what you do for a living.
For those of you who check in on this (my family, my amazing friends, my really awesome clients), I can’t tell you how much I love reading your words of encouragement. It truly does help me stay motivated–knowing that there are people who are actually looking forward to the blog posts helps me to stay on task. There’s no turning back now. Nope.
I wanted my 365 to read like a story into our lives–a snapshot of our every day life. Some days I’m not allowed to share those pictures, because it is embarrassing (for the kids— I’m pretty much an open book) so I have to shoot in a different direction. It’s hard to put it all out there for everyone to see– and I know I’m not even putting ALL of it out there– but it still gives me a wee bit of anxiety when I push the ‘publish’ button. The contents of our family life now saturating the interwebs. You’ve all been so gentle and kind, so thank you. I feel good about this, and it’s really because of you.
Onwards…
I poked in on Abby (we give her a time to shut her light off and go to bed. 2 times out of 10 she will follow directions. The other 8 times finds her up way too late because she’s lost track and we’re too lazy to climb the stairs and check on her (honesty is cool). I brought my camera with me and poked my head in and saw this. The photo hanging above her had just arrived a day earlier and she literally rolled her eyes at me while I clapped and cheered and jumped around the kitchen after opening it. Yet she made sure I hung it in a spot where “you can see it right when you walk into my room.”

Please don’t EVER stop, it would be like losing part of my “extended family” I really enjoy seeing all the photos of visiting cousins, grandparents etc. Love your comments. This is a gift! x

Don’t even think of missing a day. I have friends who have not even met you who wouldn’t miss an entry. As to Abby, you are too young to know that she has Marlene Deitrich legs.
