Cousin love.
We drove to Saugus, MA to watch one of Paige’s hockey games. Her cheering section was large and loving and she scored her team’s first goal within the first 7 minutes of the game. Chaos ensued. We Santoro’s are fiercely loyal and unconditionally proud. Her team didn’t win (or even come close), but if we could have rushed the ice to carry Paige off on our shoulders, you know we would have!
Afterwards we piled in our cars and cursed Route 1 while trying to find a good spot for a late lunch. There was a time when my sister and I decided we just couldn’t take all the kids out to any sort of meal together…ever. It’s laughable now because when we made that rule, we probably had 3 or 4 kids between us. It’s easy breezy now- partly because we just stopped caring what other restaurant patrons think, but also because these guys just cancel each other out. They pretty much take care of each other. Love, laughter, loyalty. That’s the Santoro way.
(I’m not sure if I draw more attention to Grace’s…um…. embellishments or just pretend it’s normal. Actually, it is normal. Our normal, anyway)
