I think with your last baby, you either get rid of things too early or you hang on to them too long. The baby phase for Lila didn’t last long enough. Of course it’s easy for me to say that NOW, but when she was in the thick of it, I am sure we likely wished she would hurry up and sleep through the night/walk/be potty trained/stop using a bottle, etc. She was the child who refused to sleep in a crib at 17 months because the other two slept in beds. So in the blink of an eye, the crib that securely held all 3 of our sleeping babies was dismantled and discarded, and a big girl bed appeared.
The high chair disappeared long before the crib, but I don’t even remember how or when. I wonder if Lila dragged the high chair to the basement stairs and tossed it down herself. She should use a booster seat at the table, but she won’t because that would make her seem like a baby, and being a baby is not on her agenda. So, every day she drags a stool over to the kitchen table so she doesn’t have to sit on her knees while we eat dinner. The noise the stool makes dragging across the floor is obnoxiously loud and annoying (which I am pretty certain she enjoys) and every time one of us offers to help her, she waves us off.
At some point she won’t to need sit on the stool during meals, and maybe I won’t realize it until months later, but now I will always remember what her little legs looked like dangling down as she sits high above the rest of us, on her very tall stool.
