There were better pictures to post for today, but I want to remember this.
This moment.
Abby always asks to wear my shoes. Lila– not so much. But on this night they both asked to wear my shoes, together. Maybe it was because Tock and I were painting the kitchen, and we recruited Oliver to squeeze behind the fridge and paint the tighter spaces that our bodies couldn’t fit into, or maybe it was because they were bored, or tired of fighting, or maybe they just noticed each other because 800 sq. feet really is small. Whatever. I don’t care.
They played together. Just the two of them. That RARELY happens. When I popped into the room to take their picture, Lila literally face planted onto her bed (can you see her– she’s blurred out of the picture and her torso is cropped out but you can kind of tell that she just plopped her face right into her bed). She’s wearing my shoes, and a dress. Oh, and her toenails are painted (sleepover at Gamma’s always includes a pedicure!). I snapped a quick picture because I was ruining the moment and I didn’t want it to end.
My daughters played together. They acknowledged each other. Siblings. Sisters. It’s coming into focus for them, I can just tell.

What really strikes me is that Abby is VERY close to making those shoes hers.
