Abby and Oliver are jealous of the amount of time I spend with Lila. And they’re correct– I do spend A LOT of time with her. But what they don’t understand is that before they started public school, they each had their time in the spotlight with me. Of course they don’t remember that. They just know that Lila only goes to school until 1:00, and that she gets to run all sorts of fun errands with me– including today’s dash to the bakery to buy some sweet treats for a friend. Being the nice and awesome mom that I am, I also let Lila pick 3 cupcakes out for her to share with her siblings for dessert tonight. Because I’m awesome. Did I already mention that? She wanted to eat hers in the bakery as a special treat. I said no. She wanted to eat hers in the car on the way home. I said no. She even asked if she could eat it in the garage. I was kinda tempted to say yes. But I stuck to my guns. Pouting and grumbling and stomping ensued.
Once we got settled at home, Lila came up to me and said: Please mother, may I have half of my cupcake right now. I’m staaaahhhhving! in her most perfect British accent. She’s been perfecting this accent for some time, and knows that we swoon over it, and that she could basically tell us to go to hell, but as long as she said it in her accent, we’d clap and laugh and cheer her on.

So, of course I said yes.

Because I’m awesome.
