Ha! I knew it wouldn’t last– this silly “No Lila pictures on the blog” policy that she tried to instill. Nope. NO way.
Like I said, she and I spend a lot of time together. And also, she can’t read. So I can write what I want to about her. (Abby + Oliver– please do mom a favor and do not read this to her).
Much of our time together is spent in the car, which I think is pretty much the norm for younger siblings. When we’re in the car we listen to a lot of music (read: we belt songs out and car dance in our seats). When Abby + Oliver were little, I would play all sorts of kids music (Laurie Berkner, Dan Zanes, Music Together CD’s, etc), but with Lila I just play my music. Those of you who know me well, know that I have pretty eclectic taste in music. My taste has grown on Lila, and she’s become pretty opinionated. When we get in the car my bluetooth kicks on and starts shuffling music from my phone/iPod. Lila will dictate what we listen to, barking orders from the backseat: “No, no, no, no, I don’t like that at all, no, no, YES!” Her taste ranges from Kanye West (she really only likes “Stronger” which happened to be one of the songs I would listen to in order to get me prepped and pumped up for her birth, which I did with NO DRUGS. Oh yeah, I’m throwing that in here.) to The Weepies. Lately she’s been really into ‘Girl on Fire’ by Alicia Keys (and she might substitute “girl” with super inappropriate things just to get a laugh from everyone) and she is definitely over Adele and Gotye. She’ll sing along in the car, but I am not allowed to look at her in the rear view mirror. Nor am I allowed to watch her dance at home. But seriously- this girl is on fire! She definitely has that whole “dance like nobody’s watching” thing down pat.
