Lila was invited to a fairy themed birthday party by one of her classmates. When I read the invitation aloud to her, she simply said, “I want to go but I’m not dressing up like a fairy. It’s not my thing.”
She stayed true to her word and refused to put on the fairy wings and tutu’s provided for all the girls upon arrival. I kept trying to get her to put the wings on, only because I didn’t want her to be the only one who wasn’t dressed somewhat like a fairy.
And then I finally stopped trying because really, why do I care so much when clearly she could care less. She’s an independent spirit who marches to the beat of her own drum and does so while wearing gym pants and tie dye t-shirts. Every single day.
Fairy wings or not, we still designed a pretty kick ass fairy house together.
